Dear Friends and Family,
I can hear the call to prayer outside and I am up and ready to start a new day. This is a journal of what we accomplished on Thursday on this wonderful trip.
We had a early morning flight to Luxor which meant that we had to have had breakfast and leave the Hotel by 3:15 AM. I will say that traffic in Cairo is much less traumatic at that time of the morning.
Sometimes you don’t know why plans are set up the way they are, but when we arrived in Luxor and went to the Karnak Temple with so few visitors, we understood. As we were leaving there were dozens of tourists buses in the parking lot which had only held two at 8:00.
I hope that the photos I will include in this blog will help to give you the majesty and talent of these ancient people.
Our Egyptolists, Bilal, has a great passion for his heritage and a vast knowledge of each site we visit. At Karnak and Luxor Temples, he was able to help us understand the history of Ancient Egypt.
I will try to upload photos of the two temples. I will need to make them smaller so the internet will not take all day. In the days to come, I hope to write about different parts of this experience not just a day to day diary.
Thanks for reading,
Ellen
