Dear Tyler, Ellie & Anna,
Good morning from Cologne a city that had its beginnings in ancient times as a Roman city with the layout of the city and ruins discovered as foundations for new buildings are started.

The Romans came to this section of the Rhine River, and the club 200 AD. They lay down the city streets, built gymnasiums with pools, houses and government buildings.
One building was the gymnasium and pool that was not far from the Rhine River and our ship. In 989 AD a church was built on the old building. In the 1960’s excavations discovered the ancient ruins under the church of Gross Sainte Martin.

The main tourist attraction is the famous Cologne Cathedral. One of the cathedrals attractions is the beautiful golden box containing the bones. Supposedly other Thr3e Wise Men.
Doc Ray & I went on the walking tour with the people from our ship later, grandma went back to the chapel of Saint Martin view, the Roman ruins.

In the morning before dawn, I heard lots of birds outside the window. When I asked, they said they were hundreds of green parrots in the sycamore trees outside our ship. They come at sunset and leave at sunrise. I photographed them as they returned around 6 o’clock.

More from Grandma tomorrow!
