Dear Tyler, Ellie and Anna,
Grandma is back on line and catching up.
Saturday was beautiful day in Germany and France beginning with a guided walking tour of Strasbourg, Germany. The Strasbourg Cathedral-was built between 1015 and 1439. The spires of the cathedral are 466 feet in the air and until 1874 was the tallest building in the world.

In World War II, the people of the town removed the Stainglass windows to prevent the destruction by the Nazis. They were hidden in a salt mine and rescued by the monument men in 1945 and returned to the Cathedral.

In my next post I’ll talk about the beautiful clock inside the cathedral

The town boasts, half timber, houses along canals in flower filled squares called petite France and is part of the UNESCO Heritage site.
