Adventures in 2023: NYC to Egypt with Milligan

February 22, 2023

Dear Friends and Family,

I’m on my first leg of my 2023 adventure, riding on Amtrak from Greensboro, NC to Manhattan and the Appalachian State University Loft for 5 nights before heading out to Cairo, Egypt. This will be my second trip to the land of Pharaohs and Pyramids!

Milligan University is taking 32 alumni and faculty on this journey back in time 4,000 years. This trip will include a 5 day/4night river cruise on the Nile. A necessity as there are few hotels on the Nile between Luxor and Aswan and several ancient sights to see. We will fly from Cairo to Luxor (an hour flight) and board our ship on Thursday, March 2, and end our trip in Aswan with a day to Lake Nasser and Abu Simbel before returning for our last two days in Cairo.

One personal insight from my 2019 trip was seeing ancient pyramids, monuments, temples just as they were for Joseph, Jacob, Moses, Aaron, Jeremiah, and the family of Jesus to see: an Old Testament biblical Journey.

My Manhattan goal is to revisit the Egyptian section of the Metropolitan Museum of Art with my travel companion, Linda Perkins from KY. This is a great way to start an adventure!

Linda and I visited the Hebrew/Syrian/Israel section of the MET before our journey to Israel in 2019. ( you can visit these trips on this blog. Just check the index for May 2019 for Israel and January 2019 for Egypt.)

Because of internet variability, I am having to create this blog page on my new iPhone 14. I hope to finish this page before we reach Penn Station.

Greensboro, NC train station as you can see we were already 30 minutes late. They promise that we will only be 6 minutes late to Penn Station.

Started late so will arrive late to the Loft. Look for more tomorrow
