Germany and Poland: 2020 trip completed in 2023 Back Story!

Tuesday night: Berlin, Germany (19,325 steps)

In 2019 Ellen was part of a group of 16 colleagues of Nina-Jo Moore, ASU Professor of. Communications, on an adventure to visit and study in Poland. Our adventure was to begin in June of 2020 following a student trip to the same locations. Then Covid HIT!

Now it is 2023 and our trip is on! YEA! Our group is smaller so Ellen added three days in Berlin Germany to her trip. Lucky for me my Poland trip roommate also wanted to spend a few days before our trip in Germany and she knows Berlin and speaks the language fluently!

Susan Opt taught in Germany for 5 years, plus sponsored a student group for a semester in Germany and was even a Fulbright Scholar here! She has been telling me about what is was like going into East Germany through Checkpoint Charlie this evening as we ate dinner just on the East Side of the dividing line between East and West Berlin.

Susan took me around the city today and I have so much to tell you BUT

It is late and I need sleep. I will try to post photos on Facebook each day, and then write about the day on this blog. Writing helps me put events I see each day into perspective. I give my grandchildren who don’t do Facebook a chance to follow what Grandma is doing. And fortunately I have some very faithful friends who say they like to read about these adventures.

More to come. Ellen

American Airline afternoon 6/12 flight to Dublin then on to Berlin

Ellen is packed and ready to go!
