Paul in Athens

Visit: 5/16/24

Writing: 5/17/24 (on cruise)

Dear family and friends,

In Acts:18: 16-33, Luke gives us the details of Paul’s short time in Athens.

Parthenon from Mars Hill

He probably came to Athens by ship as the land route would’ve been over many mountains and take him along period of time. High up on the almost tallest hill stood the Acropolis.

Paul spent his time visiting the in the public area of Athens, listening to the conversations, looking at the, Parth, Agarora, the large rock in the Marketplace called Mars Hill. Luke tells us of his meeting of the philosophers of the day to present the message of Jesus.

Visiting the site and the vast area of the Acropolis, you can see the possibilities of the large audience for Paul’s message.

Our guide helped us realize the wisdom and power of Paul’s message. “Being with a compliment…’I perceive that you are very religions’”

Being on the ancient hill with the actual buildings brought the New Testament to life!

Paul’ s Mars Hill message in Greek. As we stood possibly where Paul stood, our guide read again this wonderful speech to us.
