Finally in Egypt—Tuesday January 15, 2019

Dear Friends and Family,

I have decided that’s sleep is overrated! Since my last day in Manhattan (Sunday) I have had a total of of 6 hours of sleep which was all last evening after a 13 hour flight to Cairo. Flying onTurkish Airlines was very good experience. We were fed three big meals and given pillows, blankets and even tooth brushes and toothpaste. I went to JFK at 8:00 and flew out at 11:55. So Sunday night was only two 30 minute naps. Monday was more than half gone when I arrive in Cairo at 9:00 pm so dinner, our orientation meeting, meeting new friends meant that bedtime was around 1 AM on Tuesday.

Today I woke up to sunrise with the Pyramids outside my bedroom balcony.

After a great breakfast we began our day. While I can see the pyramids, you really can’t get there from here quickly. Security is very tight, we have a police officer with us and at everysite there is a security check points for vehicles and just to get into out hotel every day. They are checking for explosives at every site with x ray and dogs.

We were at the Pyramids, Sphinx, and the Solar Boat of Khufu, This boat was discovered buried beside the Great Pyramid of Khufu in 1224 pieces that fit together to create this boat. It was assembled in 1968 by specialists form 5 different countries. It is still on its original site beside the pyramid. I learned today that there area three other boats underground on the other three sides that in some future date will be explored.

I am sorry that this may be short as I find that there is so much to do a little time for creative work. We have a lecture in about 30 minutes by an professor from the Uiversity of Cairo then dinner. I want to get this published before Wednesday which is soon where you are.

More after my lecture tonight.
