Tips on Travel.

What We Have Learned on our Trip

Today is day 10 of our 15 day cruise.  There are a few I have learned from this trip:

  1. Cruising will spoil you for any Bus or Car trip with many stops and hotel stays! Having to unpack only once is a joy and makes every day just about the sights you will see.
  2. Being waited on all day by an excellent staff of over 50 can make going home difficult.
  3. 203 square feet including veranda and bathroom is very small and compact. I watch Tiny House on HGTV and would have to think twice before living there full time. Our room is compact, but so much other space is available, that we don’t stay there long but have opportunities to meet the other 160 guests on the ship.
  4. Never put a full length mirror in a small bathroom. It does make the room larger but as a high cost to the viewer!
  5. Be prepared for weather change. We have had 90+ degree weather, rain but mostly sunshine.  Even in the summer it is difficult to plan your wardrobe appropriately. Yesterday we had three seasons of weather on our visit to Bamberg.
  6. Bring appropriate hiking-quality shoes for cobblestones not just walking shoes. Peggy bought a pair of ECCO hiking sandals on the trip and they have made all the difference in the world.
  7. Always have .50 euros available for the  necessary room …the WC.
  8. In Germany McDonald’s is called the American Embassy by all of our guides.

    1. I am so glad you took me on my first River Cruise. I now feel like an “old-hand” at this. For this July 4th we went and used the WC at the American Embassy–McDonalds! I have shared photos of our trip with Peggy. She thinks you are quite handsome!
