In the Steps of Paul with Milligan University!

By Ellen Carpenter, 2024

Dear Friends and Family,

In May of 2012, Milligan offered an Alumni Cruise from Barcelona, Spain around the Mediterranean Sea to Florence, Pompeii, Rome, (Italy) Istanbul, Ephesus (Turkey), Athens (Greece), finally back to Venice.

Unfortunately we missed our stop in Athens, Greece, for political and practical reasons and went to Crete instead.

Now 12 years later, I am finally getting to see Greece and take a journey on land to Corinth, Thessaloniki, and Philippi to walk in the steps of Paul plus a three day cruise from Athens, Greece to Ephesus, Turkey, Patmos, and Crete. Ephesus and Crete were destinations on my first trip.

Milligan’s Chancellor Bill Greer and his wife Edwina have planned an exciting tour following the step of Paul in Greece and ancient Asia Minor. For me this trip will be extra special as I will be sharing the adventure with my daughter, Lori Carpenter Rice and her husband Eric Rice!

A group of 31 Milligan Alumni and friends will leave Tuesday, May 14th from JFK for Zurich then on to Athens. We will be returning May 24th. I leave from Boone on May 12th to catch the train to JFK and will return later after 4 days at the ASU Loft in Manhattan.

We have been notified that Wifi may be limited at certain locations. I plan to write every day, but probably will not get to post daily. I always post a few photos on Facebook as that does not take as much writing time.

I thank you in advance for following and reading. You can post comments (which I love) here or on Facebook. I will notify you on Facebook each day as the blog goes LIVE!…Remember I will be 7 hours earlier at each location.
